Konfident Kids pre-school sports programs are designed with emphasis on the fundamental movement skills (e.g. running, jumping, hopping, skipping, throwing, catching, striking, etc.) identified as the basic physical requirements that children need prior to starting school. These are the skills that children need to successfully participate in all types of sports and physical activity. Research evidence suggests that children who are competent in the fundamental movement skills are more likely to enjoy sports and physical activity and develop a lifelong commitment to physical activity and health.
Unfortunately, many children are lacking in the development of fundamental movement skills prior to school entry. This may occur for a number of reasons including: a general decrease in outdoor free play, concentration on one organised sport at an early age, gross motor deficit or a lack of confidence and/or motivation to complete physical activities. The Konfident Kids program has been born out of a desire to address these issues and instil a lifelong passion for sport and physical activity.
Our program aims to help as many children as possible not only achieve the basic fundamental movement skill level, but also develop and exceed children’s skills beyond the basic requirements for kindergarten. We aim to achieve this by developing a program that constantly integrates safe, healthy, engaging, meaningful and most of all FUN experiences for each and every child. Furthermore, we continually monitor the skills demonstrated by each child against developmental milestones. This enables us to build progression, a key focus in the Konfident Kids program, into all subsequent session plans.
